Sep 09, 2010 This is a clinical registry of an FDA approved device system called the Genesys Hydro ThermAblatorTM (HTA) system (Boston Scientific). The HTA system's intended use is to be inserted, by a trained physician, into the uterus, where it will fill and circulate fluid that is warm enough to change the characteristics of the uterine lining. You may be a candidate for the Genesys HTA System procedure if you are seeking relief from the symptoms of heavy menstrual bleeding and: Feel your heavy bleeding interferes with your quality of life; Are frustrated or depressed by your heavy bleeding.

The risk of serious injury such as perforation (creation of a hole) of the uterus and injury to internal organs with the Genesys HTA System is low. However, there is a risk that heated fluid may leak out of your uterus during the procedure and result in a burn to your vagina or surrounding areas.
